Breathing Softspace

How would it feel if a space could breathe with me? How heavy would lightness be in there?
The interactive installation uses woven textiles to create a space in which one can discover dimensionality, movement and the play of material. The collaborative project by Lisa Marleen Mantel, Matthias Rosenthal and Marie Schumann was shown during Vienna Design Week.

Breathing Softspace

The woven Softspace textile hangs on DMX winches from the ceiling. It is connected with an infrared camera and through the recognition of visitors in the space, the textile can react to the behaviour interactively.

Tactile and haptic experiences in space can be discovered through an interaction with a three-dimensional Softspace.
